Overview

The true lifeblood of the Council is the work completed in, or directed by, the committees.  Committee participation is a great way for members to get involved behind the scenes, help make things happen, build stronger networks and receive additional recognition and exposure. Membership in committees is strictly voluntary.

There are two basic types of Committees within the Council — Standing Committees and Special Committees:

Standing Committees form an ongoing, continuous function and operate indefinitely. These Committees may deal with ongoing issues, organisational and operational tasks of the Council

Special Committees often referred to as an “ad hoc” committee or task force, is assembled with a specific purpose in mind and a specific time frame

Committees may be:

National: Focused exclusively on issues of members within the region

International: Focused on cross-border issues or issues common to the majority of national regions
